Why Co-AL  Mineral  Makeup?  Why Mineral Makeup?

Mineral Makeup is becoming very popular more and more companies are adding a mineral makeup line to their already established makeup lines. Why so much interest in it now, Since it has  been around since the 70’s.

When I first got my license as a Medical Aesthetician I wanted to sell a makeup line that was beneficial to the skin. I grew up using many of the store brands and other liquid makeup and I did not like the feel. I always felt like I had a layer of oil on my skin. I am not a professional in the health field but I have always had an interest in eating well and exercising and taking care of myself the best that I could. Why not do the same for my skin.

I wanted to work with people that had laser treatments and help people with scaring, Acne, port wine stains and rosacea etc. It needed to not be irritating to the skin and if possible beneficial.

So I looked into all the professional lines and I started to read about this line of makeup called mineral makeup. It was very in trigging to me so I order some samples. I was more of a makeup artist at the time, and I was still doing Weddings. I would use my usual products and then slowly I would try the mineral makeup. I am from a small town so the idea of mineral makeup was a whole new concept and a lot of brides were hesitant to use it. It was of course one of their biggest days in their lives and they wanted to look their best. They needed the makeup to last through the day and night of activities. They also needed to look their best for their pictures. Some brides would go to the store and would bring their own makeup  and wanted me to use them. I would, but it was not giving them the coverage I knew I would get with the mineral makeup. I knew the mineral makeup would not “melt” off their faces with a night of dancing and heat from the lights of photographers.

The first time I was going to use mineral makeup on a bride; she wanted nothing to do with it. At that time she never had seen a foundation in a powder form. You only used powder after you applied your liquid foundation. But I showed her how you put it between your two fingers and once in warmed up, it was  smooth and silky on the skin. Not powdery. So she became curious but still did not want to chance it. So I started to apply the foundation.  It was not given her the coverage that I knew the mineral makeup would so I thought  I would put it to the test. I told her I would apply her foundation to one side of her face and the mineral makeup to the other. I told her to go out into the salon and ask everyone in the salon which side looked best. She started with her mom and brides made who had no idea way she was asking. I have to admit I was a little nervous and I stood back by my makeup room. I was going to put it to the test if the mineral makeup side was chosen I was going to completely switch and never go back. If not they may start to wonder about my choices as a professional and why was I even testing it.

She asked her mom and her mom picked the mineral makeup side whew, we got mom. Then she asked the bride’s maids and they also picked the mineral makeup side. They even started commenting on how much better and natural her mineral makeup side look compared to the other. The other side did not give her the coverage she needed.  So then she started to ask the other staff. They had no idea what I was doing. The staff and the other customers that were there all agreed. What a relief I was holding my breath the whole time, so now I could finally breathe. She came back and said just use Co-AL mineral makeup for everything and just put the other makeup away. So we took off the old and we started over. Once we were done, she loved it, and so did her bridesmaids.  Then  it was time to do the bridesmaids. They all just left their makeup in the shop and came to the makeup room. They all said to just use Co-AL mineral makeup and to tell them all about it. So I did and I am still selling mineral makeup and they became some of my first customers. At that time I was putting my line and in some way my reputation to the test. As the years went on I have learned more and more about mineral makeup, and what is needed in a good makeup line. Mineral makeup is just  what you need for a smooth flawless complexion. Not to mention all the benefits to your skin.

Does every makeup artist agree with me and only use mineral makeup? Most likely not, we all have our favorite tools of the trade. But a lot of Aestheticians will use mineral makeup for all its benefits and I have never gone back to using any other makeup. Just a side note; As a makeup Artist you get some different request that test your skills. I have had a few grooms and grooms man ask me to fix a black eye or two. I always use the Co-AL mineral makeup so that it has all the coverage and doesn’t look like they have makeup on. I decided long ago to never ask any questions!
